For frequent travellers, the ability to leave the charger at home for a full day is transformative.

The Surface Laptop 7 is a Copilot+ PC, which means it supports Microsoft's suite of AI-powered features that require the Hexagon NPU's 45 TOPS of AI performance. Recall — the feature that creates a searchable timeline of everything you've done on your PC — is the most controversial. Microsoft has addressed privacy concerns by making it opt-in and storing all data locally, encrypted. In practice, it's genuinely useful for finding documents, emails, and web pages you viewed weeks ago.
Live Captions provides real-time transcription of any audio playing on the PC — meetings, videos, podcasts — with impressive accuracy. Cocreator in Paint generates images from text descriptions using on-device AI. Auto Super Resolution upscales games to higher resolutions using AI interpolation. Keyboard and Trackpad
Microsoft's keyboard and trackpad have always been among the best on any Windows laptop, and the Surface Laptop 7 continues that tradition. The keyboard has 1.3mm of key travel — shallow by desktop standards but excellent for a thin laptop — with consistent actuation force and satisfying feedback. The large glass trackpad is smooth, precise, and supports all Windows 11 multi-touch gestures without false positives.
Display Quality
The 15-inch PixelSense Flow display (2496×1664, 120Hz) is one of the best laptop displays available. The 3:2 aspect ratio provides 11% more vertical screen space than a 16:9 display of the same diagonal — a meaningful advantage for document editing and web browsing. The 600 nits peak brightness is adequate for most indoor environments, though it falls short of the HP Spectre x360 14's 1,200 nits HDR peak.
